The top-seeded Indian shuttlers P.V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen demonstrated their dominance by securing the women’s and men’s singles titles, respectively, at the Syed Modi Indian International Super 300 Tournament in Lucknow on Sunday. In addition, the women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also clinched the championship title.
P.V. Sindhu dominated the final against China’s Wu Luo Yu, clinching the contest with a score of 21-14, 21-16. This marks her 20th career title, and it also broke her 2-year title drought.
Lakshya Sen put on an impressive performance, overpowering 4th-seeded Jason Teh of Singapore with a commanding scoreline of 21-6, 21-7 in the final. This marks his 13th career title and the first in this year. His previous title was the Canada Open Super 500 event held in the previous year.
In the women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand triumphed over China’s Bao Li Jing and Li Qian with a score of 21-18, 21-11 in the final. This marks their third career title and their maiden Super 300 title.
In the men’s doubles final, Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Sai Pratheek K succumbed to a tough defeat, finishing with a score of 14-21, 21-19, 17-21 against the Chinese duo of Huang Di and Liu Yang.
Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles final, the fifth-seeded partnership of Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila began strongly but were unable to maintain their momentum, losing to the Thai sixth-seeded pair of Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran with a score of 21-18, 14-21, 8-21.
