Asian U18 Rugby 7s Ch’ships: Indian Girls Miss out on Podium Finish After Disastrous Day 2

It was a disastrous second day for the India on Sunday at the 2024 Asian U18 Rugby 7s Championships in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, as the girls failed to secure a podium finish. Despite being on top of the standings on Saturday, the Indian girls lost three consecutive matches, resulting in them finishing 4th in the standings.

The Indian girls’ team, which had been successful in their first three matches on the first day of the tournament, suffered a setback in the opening match of day 2 against Thailand. They lost the match with a score line of 7-10. Although they still had the potential to qualify for the final by winning their next match against Malaysia, they fell short and lost the match with a score of 10-12. In their bronze medal match, they faced off against the hosts once again and succumbed to a 0-12 defeat.

The Indian boys’ team’s lackluster tournament came to a close on Sunday with an 8th place finish in the overall standings, suffering an 14-26 loss against Thailand. They were able to achieve only one victory in their 5 matches during the tournament.
