Mumbai: Indian wrestler and Rubics Group talent Sujeet Kalkal has made the nation proud by winning gold in the men’s 65kg freestyle wrestling category at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Kalkal produced a remarkable comeback in the final against Tajikistan’s Abdulmazhid Kudiev. Trailing 2–9, he fought back to secure a dramatic 10–9 victory, clinching the gold and India’s first wrestling gold of the Games.
Earlier, Kalkal had delivered another standout performance in the semifinals, defeating Japan’s reigning Olympic champion Kotaro Kiyooka in a closely fought bout to book his place in the final.
