The Badminton World Federation on Friday announced the draws for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The men’s doubles draw has been delayed and will be announced at a later date.
Two-time Olympic medalist and 10th seed Pv Sindhu will play against Kristin Kuuba (World Ranking: 75) from Estonia and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq (World Ranking: 111) of Maldives at the Paris 2024 Olympics. In the men’s singles, 13th seed H.S. Prannoy, who will make his Olympic debut, is in Group K, where he will face Le Duc Phat (World Ranking: 70) from Vietnam and Fabian Roth (World Rankings: 82) of Germany.
Another debutante, Lakshya Sen, will face third seed Jonatan Christie from Indonesia in Group L. He will also compete against Tokyo Olympics semifinalist Kevin Gordon from Guatemala and Julien Caraggi (World Ranking: 52) of Belgium.
The women’s doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa has been drawn in Group C, alongside the fourth seed Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida from Japan. They will also clash with the Rio Olympics bronze medallists Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong of South Korea and the Australians Setyana Mepasa/Angela Yu.
Just before the draw was to be held at the Badminton World Federation headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the world body declared that the men’s doubles had been delayed and would take place at a later date.
