The top-seeded Indian competitor defeated second seed Nguyen Thi Thu Huygen of Vietnam in the final. She emerged victorious with a score of 22-20 in the first set and 21-11 in the second set.
The 13-year-old defeated Thailand’s Kungkaew Kakanik with a score of 21-19, 21-10 in the semifinals. Throughout the entire tournament, the Indian girl did not lose a single set.
Samiya Imad Farooqui clinched the U-15 girls singles title in 2017, while Tasnim Mir had emerged victorious in the same category in 2019.
Other Indian player to achieve a podium finish in the tournament was Gnana Dattu in the U-17 boys singles category. He lost in 3 sets to Indonesia’s Radithya Bayu Wardhana in the semifinals and settled for a bronze medal.
