The Indian Men’s Archers displayed an outstanding performance in the ranking round, finishing 3rd in the team standings as the archery events at the Paris Olympics commenced at Les Invalides.
Dhiraj Bommadevara achieved 4th rank out of 64 archers with a score of 681. Veteran Tarundeep Rai came at 14th spot with a score of 674. Pravin Jadhav (658) ended up at 38th. The Indian men’s team was 3rd overall among 12 participating teams, with a combined score of 2013.
South Korea’s Kim Woojin took first place in the individual ranking round with a score of 686 points. His compatriot Kim Je Deok (682) acquired 2nd spot. Florian Unruh of Germany was 3rd with a score of 681. South Korea led the team rankings with a combined total of 2049. France (2025) and China (1998) were 2nd and 4th respectively.
By securing a place in top 4, the Indian men’s team confirmed a place in the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of the match between 6th place Turkiye and 11th ranked Colombia. Additionally, India also qualified for the mixed team event by obtaining 5th place with a total score of 1347. Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat, the highest-ranked Indians in the ranking round, will represent India in the mixed team event. The mixed team will face 12th ranked Indonesia in the pre-quarterfinals.
The men’s team event is scheduled for 28th July, and the individual competition will start on 29th July. The mixed team matches are slated to take place on 2nd August.
