
India experienced a day of disappointments at the 2024 Badminton World Junior Championships in Nanchang, China, as their campaign culminated at the quarterfinals stage. Tanvi Sharma, Aalisha Naik, and Pranav Shettigar all were eliminated in the quarterfinals on Friday.
15-year-old Tanvi Sharma faced a defeat against China’s Xu Wen Jing in the Women’s Singles with scores of 13-21, 21-19, and 15-21. 18-year-old Aalisha Naik suffered a loss to Dai Qin Yi from China in the quarterfinals, losing 18-21 and 19-21.
In the Men’s singles event, Pranav Shettigar of India succumbed to a defeat by the hands of Wang Zi Jun of China, with scores of 9-21 in the first set and 16-21 in the second. As a result, India’s campaign concluded. Three Chinese players managed to secure positions in the semifinals of both Men’s and Women’s singles events.
